Finishing a piece of jewelry from a RPD frameworktop

The final steps of a partial framework are so important because it transforms into a patients first experience with their new RPD restoration. This webinar will take you step by step on how to finish frames on a daily basis. Detailed information will be given on the benefits of rubber wheels and brushes, the proper RPM settings, polishing wheels vs. high shining compounds and liquids. The goal on every case is to have the doctor say "It looks like a piece of jewelry". This program is designed for all removable technicians.

Creating successful combination/attachment casestop

Looking to improve the longevity and aesthetics of your next combination/attachment case? This webinar will cover the important parts of designing lingual bracing arms and why they should be added to most combination cases. Find out what type of milling bur you need - 0º, 2ºor 4º tapered, cross-cut or fine. Furthermore, technicians will realize the importance of a full diagnostic wax up that will help create the blue print. This program is helpful for both the fixed and removable technicians doing combination cases.

Pressables: natural aesthetics using the cut-back techniquetop

More dental lab technicians are enjoying the fits, aesthetics, and ease of pressable ceramic technology in their daily routines. Many of the pressable ceramic systems offer full-pressed, cut-back and layering options for enhanced aesthetics and characterization. This webinar will review the fundamentals of a good foundation for the cut-back and layering techniques of the incisal porcelains and the effects of using modifiers and stains. A must for any ceramist looking to get the most out of their pressable system.

Designing a mandibular partial frameworktop

The form or shape of the major connector can be challenging when designing a lower RPD. Should a lingual apron be added? What is the proper distance the lingual bar should be placed away from the remaining teeth? Where should the rest seats and finish lines be placed? These questions and more will be answered to help make a lower partial both functional and aesthetic. This webinar is ideal for all removable technicians and the CAD/CAM designer.

What's-up doc? How to connect with doctorstop

You've read all the marketing articles, looked at all the studies, asked your peers - and still confused? Brochures, trade shows, newsletters, e-mail marketing and so on. What actually works? Join us as we discuss how to hone your marketing tools and tips for building a strong vibrant brand.

Ceramic considerations for long span bridgestop

Looking for helpful techniques when working on larger porcelain bridges? This webinar will cover tips such as controlling shrinkage by building up and baking a thin layer of base dentin over your framework and adding a small amount in the interproximal areas. Need more working time with your ceramic powders - add a few drops of this special mixing liquid especially while applying porcelain to long span bridges. Also learn a systematic approach to making the cut-back technique easier resulting in a more natural incisal blending. Technicians will see bridges differently in the future - more predictable, more enjoyable and better esthetics.

Designing a maxillary partial frameworktop

There are many ways to design a maxillary partial framework - a full coverage palate…a skeleton design for a better sense of taste and a lighter feel…or a natural flowing design that incorporates a lighter feel, and open areas for tissue stimulation, and support. Subjects like retention areas, anterior aprons, indirect retention and minor connectors will be covered in detail. This step by step approach in designing partial frameworks will have a positive effect on creating better esthetics and function in all your upcoming cases. Ideal for all partial denture technicians and CAD/CAM designer.

What happened to my crown?top

Problems in the porcelain department can present themselves in a wide range of scenarios. This webinar will address several major problems by assisting the technicians to understand what causes them and how to correct them: horizontal cracks in a porcelain crown, dull lifeless looking porcelain, porosity in the ceramics and bubbles that pass down to the metal. Technicians will learn how to recognize and correct the problems so they don't continue - reducing costly remakes.

Troubleshooting partials that don't fittop

Nothing is more frustrating to a partial technician than spending many hours waxing, investing, and casting a framework to have it not fit the model. The result - grind a little here…grind a little there…and still the rests or major connector don't seat. This webinar will review the all too often problem area of fabricating the investment model. Learn techniques for determining whether the casting has too much or too little expansion, how to adjust the expansion of the refractory material, and the effects that temperature and mixing time have on refractory investments.

Designed for the removable technician looking for more consistency in the RPD department.

Designing ceramic crowns that function with RPD'stop

Several key components need to be considered when designing a ceramic crown or bridge that are both aesthetic and functional for a patient with a removable partial denture. This webinar reviews why a proper guide plane is so important and where it should be placed. Often overlooked - how and where to place the under-cut into the facial surface of the crown for retention of the clasp. Helpful tips will be given to the model & die work to help strengthen the knowledge base of any ceramist doing combination cases.

Creating natural effects with modifiers and stainstop

Learn in detail how small layers of stains and modifiers can enhance the esthetics of a porcelain restoration. Color can be defined as hue, chroma and value - each component has its own effect on the visual outcome of the subject. This webinar will demonstrate how to set up a palette of stains and modifiers as well as how special illusions such as translucency, aging effect and abraded incisals can be "recreated".

Presented by Martin Schmid, CDT

Increase the life of your attachment cases with milled bracing armstop

Attachment case designs often have the attachment itself working as the retentive force and stabilizing element. Today's attachments are getting smaller and many cannot satisfy these dual demands without the plastic portion wearing out quickly. By incorporating lingual milled bracing arms into the design of the case, the attachment will now act only as the retentive element and the bracing arm will stabilize the appliance. This webinar will review the key factors in designing a successful case and understand how the physical properties of the alloy affect the longevity of the restoration. Ideal for both C&B and partial technicians.

Presented by Martin Schmid, CDT

Self-curing acrylic for RPD'stop

See how easy it can be to process the acrylic of a RPD frame using self curing acrylic. No need to presspack, inject, etc - simply use a matrix and after only 15 minutes of curing under pressure, the acrylic can be finished. Not only does this technique save time but there is very little chance of bending a framework when deflasking!

New and improved acrylic formulas have taken this type of technique to a new level with no discoloration or bond failures.

Presented by Martin Schmid, CDT

Using a matrix as your guidetop

All anterior removable RPD cases should always be designed with the anterior denture teeth in mind. The first step in designing the case should be the setup of the teeth in an aesthetic arrangement. After the set-up is complete a matrix should be made and formed around the anterior teeth to reestablish their position. By having the exact position of the teeth it is much easier to design the retention and foundation of the framework. All partial technicians will find this webinar helpful.

Presented by Martin Schmid, CDT

Soldering: creating better connectionstop

Where is the best place for a solder connection in a metal bridge structure? This presentation will take you through a proven technique for soldering bridges that fit great, won't rock, and will not cause ceramic contamination issues in later procedures. From cutting the metal framework to adjusting the proper torch flame, learn the latest technique for creating consistent solder joints every time.

Presented by Martin Schmid, CDT

Internal shading of ceramicstop

"Give me more space!" How many times have you asked yourself that question after building an anterior restoration? See ideas on how to help overcome shading problems when space is limited in the margin, occlusal, and labial areas. This webinar will detail how the use of modifiers, porcelain blending techniques, and stains can create depth and natural looking aesthetics. Ideal for ceramists of all levels.

Presented by Martin Schmid, CDT

Partial framework designstop

Designing aesthetic, yet functional, partial frameworks is becoming a "Lost Art". The webinar will show the viewer the importance of creating thin, comfortable designs that function, stay balanced during chewing, and give the patient a feeling of confidence. The theories behind selecting the proper clasp design, major connector, and the importance of internal and external finishing lines will also be covered.

Presented by Martin Schmid, CDT

Rough cast metal surfaces - what causes them?top

Many technicians often ask how to get their casting surfaces smoother. Issues such as rough surfaces, flashing, tiny bubbles, and extra investment on the casting surface, create more work for the metal finisher. This webinar will review the many factors that cause problems for the finisher. Time is money and this knowledge will put money back into every crown and bridge department. This program should be viewed by C&B technicians and metal finishers.

Presented by Martin Schmid, CDT

Short castings - what causes them?top

When a technician is breaking out a coping from a casting ring and finds a "short" casting, several variables may have caused this result. The webcast will review several different factors like: spruing, casting and burnout temperatures, coping wall thickness, reservoir position and size, and casting force and their effects. Every C&B technician will find this program to be very helpful in getting consistently good castings.
